Hotel Éclat Beijing Launches First Artist-in-Residence Program with Demos Chiang

“Poetic Dwelling” debuts at the Parkview Museum Beijing, extending into the iconic Hotel Éclat Beijing spaces.

The debut of Poetic Dwelling marks a powerful new chapter in the fusion of contemporary art and luxury hospitality. This multi-sensory solo exhibition by artist Demos Chiang features over 90 original works, including paintings, sculptures, and digital media. Chiang’s expressive visual language blends the lyrical sensibility of traditional Chinese ink with the emotive strength of Western abstract expressionism. Through innovative use of materials—ranging from enamel and lacquer to AI-assisted sculpture—Chiang explores the tensions between mythology and modernity, instinct and technology, individuality and collectivity.

Drawing inspiration from German philosopher Martin Heidegger and poet Friedrich Hölderlin, Chiang creates a symbolic visual universe that invites viewers into reflective and poetic experiences. Each canvas is accompanied by a brief English verse written by the artist himself, deepening the spiritual dialogue between word and image.

The exhibition is curated by Professor Shao Yiyang and is housed at The Parkview Museum·Beijing, extending further into the architecture and artistic atmosphere of Hotel Éclat Beijing. As part of this initiative, Demos Chiang was invited to spend one week in residence in one of the hotel’s signature Lagoon Suites, allowing him time and space to draw, reflect, and immerse himself in the creative energy of Parkview Green.

“We are incredibly honoured to have hosted Demos Chiang for the launch of our first-ever Artist-in-Residence program. Welcoming him into our Lagoon Suite was more than a privilege—it was an opportunity to support artistic creation at the heart of our hotel’s identity. We hope his time with us offered peace, inspiration, and the space to dream.”
